Inheritable Permissions not Applying

Hi Everyone,

I've got a 2012 R2 file server with Windows 7 Professional x64 clients.

Users have a mapped drive deployed via Group Policy (let's say, X:).

All users have read access to X:, and explicit permissions set on the sub-folders.

UserA has access to SubFolderA and SubFolderB, UserB has access to SubFolderB.

When UserA moves a file from SubFolderA to SubFolderB, the permissions are copied instead of using the inheritable permissions of SubFolderB. Interestingly, UserA copies the file instead of move, the inheritable permissions of the parent are applied.

Because the permissions are copied and not replaced means that UserB cannot access that particular file.

I'm aware that Pre 2008 and 7 that this would occur due to the folders being located on the same volume - though my research suggests that 2008 and later shouldn't have this issue.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
