Folder permissions across namespace servers for folders in dfsroots folder

Server: Windows Server 2012

Namespace set up for access-based enumeration

Setting view permissions at the C:\DFSRoots\groupfolder level, which requires the inheritance to be disabled. The problem I'm seeing is that when I review the groupfolders in the alternate namespace servers, the permissions are not replicated.

Does this mean I have to implement replication at the C:\DFSRoots level?  My understanding was that this is a bad idea.

Or do I have to manually apply the permissions on each of the namespace servers?
