I have a strange issue that I am having a hard time figuring out.
I have a user whose home drive will not map. The laptop is a windows 7 Pro SP1 machine that is connected via wireless to a domain. The user has her home drive configured under her user profile.
When I try to map the drive manually \\server1\home\username I get the following error:
H:\ refers to a location that is unavailable.
If I map the drive using the IP address \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\home\username it will map.
I can ping server1
There are other network drives mapped to server1 (\\server1\Corp\Data) that are working fine. Because I am able to ping the server name and other drives are being mapped I have ruled out a DNS issue.
After a reboot or logoff/logon the Home drive will disappear even after I map it by IP address and check reconnect at logon or map it from a cmd prompt using net use and persistent:yes command.
I have checked the HOST file and LMHOST files, nothing is in there. I have also checked the credential manager, there are not any passwords being saved.
I have removed the PC from the domain, renamed it, and added it back to the domain, the Home drive still will not map.
Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help
