Hi All
First of all, I’m a MS user so I really have not a lot of Apple Mac experience, but since our Creative Service department does have mac’s and want to work on a Windows servers I got involved.
To get an overview; we had a fileserver and mac OSX server separately but company decided to make it all one big Windows server 2012R2. So we have one server used by Windows users and Mac users.
File sharing is setup as following (example: to give you an idea)
- SharedFolder1 (access based emulation enabled) (share permissions everyone “modify” )
- Department 1 (Disabled Inhert, only access for secgroup department 1)
- Department 2 (Disabled Inhert, only access for secgroup department 2)
- ….
So there are several departments, and one of them the Mac users. The mac department folder is secured by a security group called “MAC_Dept” this holds al mac users. But what happens when a mac user is creating or editing files, it puts their own username into the NTFS permissions. Why?
The other part is when I do the same thing “from a mac” it does not do this, but please know my account is in the local admins. I did already a lot of testing with share access full or just modify but nothing seems to help. Maybe someone has an idee or can give me push in the right direction
Much appreciated
